STRESS SCARL, an acronym which in Italian stands for Development of Research and Technologies for Sustainable and Seismically Safe Construcion, is a non-profit consortium established in 2010. It is a legal entity established according to Italian law and its legal form is that of a consortile company, set with the aim of promoting research activities and experimental demonstrations of innovative technologies for the construction sector.
STRESS SCARL is an association that includes the most important Universities of the Campania Region, private companies of the construction sector, engineering firms and other research organizations. It is a SME operating through its own technical structure but also involving in its activities the staff of its associated companies and institutions. It has a fixed structure that carries out research activities addressed to the construction sector, but also it has a flexible organization with the ability to assemble an interdisciplinary team of experts to address a specific problem.
In 2012, the Italian Ministry of Research and Education (MIUR) appointed STRESS as High Technology Research Center for Sustainable Construction
STRESS SCARL, also through its associates, has the skills to undertake complex, multidisciplinary, and integrated projects covering both technical aspects and project management issues.
Its mission is to operate in the Research & Development field, with particular attention to the construction sector, addressing in an integrated way the issues related to Sustainability, Safety and Resilience of the Built Environment with a strong commitment on lifelines, civil infrastructure, and buildings.
Its action strategies are based on the definition and development of "Best Practices", derived by the design and the realization of technology demonstrators, intended as applications of innovative technologies and methodologies studied and developed during the research activities. Its previous national and european research experiences are related to the sustainability assessment of the innovative solutions, to their validation and to the exploitation of the research results.
