Prof. Liberato Ferrara, project coordinator of ReSHEALience at Politecnico di Milano, was a guest at Smart City Radio 24 to talk about the durability of concrete infrastructures and the contribution of the project to more sustainable construction.
In the interview he explained why concrete structures in marine and energy environments deteriorate much faster than expected, and how Ultra High Durability Concrete (UHDC) with self-healing capacity can extend the service life of infrastructures by at least 30%, reducing maintenance costs and the consumption of resources.
The interview also covered the six ReSHEALience pilots, from the geothermal basins in Chiusdino to the floating platform for offshore wind turbines. The recording is available on the radio’s podcast channel.
